Ameesha Patel just shared a story that perfectly shows how deeply ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ stayed with audiences. The film’s impact was so strong that it actually disrupted a shoot for an entirely different movie.

Ameesha appeared as a special guest on India’s Best Dancer Season 5, where she opened up about a funny incident from the sets of Humraaz. The 2002 thriller, directed by Abbas-Mustan, was being filmed at Jaipur Fort alongside Bobby Deol.

During the climax scene, Bobby’s character was supposed to walk up and hug Ameesha’s character. But the moment the crew called action, the crowd that had gathered to watch the shoot did not react the way anyone expected.

Fans thought she was still Sakeena

According to Ameesha, the crowd started shouting at Bobby to stop, insisting she belonged to his brother. They referenced Tara Singh, Sunny Deol’s character from Gadar, claiming he had brought her back from Pakistan and that no one else should touch her.

The confusion happened because fans could not separate Ameesha from Sakeena, the character she had played in Gadar just a year earlier.

Calming the crowd down

Ameesha recalled the team trying to explain that this was simply a film shoot and had nothing to do with Gadar’s storyline. She said everyone kept telling the crowd to stay calm since it was just acting.

Eventually, after the crowd was dispersed, the team managed to complete the shot without hurting anyone’s sentiments. Looking back, Ameesha spoke fondly of the experience, saying it has always been wonderful working with the Deols, calling them lovely people.
