Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the BJP by accusing it of trying to suppress the issue of alleged misappropriation of donations received for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

At a press conference held at the party headquarters in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP is trying to suppress the issue by threatening, intimidating, and fabricating stories, but all its efforts will fail.

He claimed that news of the alleged theft related to the temple in Ayodhya had reached every village and that its impact would be visible in the upcoming elections. He said, “This time, the BJP will get neither donations, nor offerings, nor votes.”

Akhilesh Yadav said that people are hurt by the alleged irregularities in the Ram Temple project and that the public will oust the BJP from power through the ballot in the 2027 assembly elections.

He alleged that corruption is widespread in Uttar Pradesh, and an organised system of extortion is operating from government departments to police stations.

Referring to Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the former Chief Minister said that the first name of dignity is Lord Ram and the second is the Constitution. Faith, dignity, and devotion have been betrayed, and now attempts are being made to weaken the Constitution and democracy as well.

He said that the truth about the donations received in the name of Lord Ram will eventually be revealed to the public, and the public will render its verdict based on that.

Indeed, the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are scheduled for February-March next year. The Samajwadi Party has been continuously targeting the BJP and the state government over the issue of alleged irregularities in Ram Temple donations.

At present, BJP has not given any official response to these allegations and the Ram Temple Trust has previously termed such allegations as baseless.
