Pune Rural Police on Wednesday recreated the alleged murder scene of 26-year-old real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal at Maharashtra’s Lohagad Fort, using a fibre dummy to reconstruct how investigators believe the crime unfolded.

The exercise is part of the ongoing investigation into Agarwal’s death. Investigators dropped a dummy matching the victim’s height and weight into a gorge more than 300 feet deep to examine the sequence of events at the spot.

Crime scene reconstruction forms key part of probe

The reconstruction comes days after police carried out a gait analysis of co-accused Chetan Babulal Chaudhary to determine his movements on the day of the incident.

Investigators also recovered the trousers Chaudhary was allegedly wearing when the crime took place.

Siya Goyal and Chetan Babulal Chaudhary are accused of murdering Agarwal, Siya’s fiancé, at Lohagad Fort on June 18.

Police custody extended

A Maharashtra court on Monday granted Pune Rural Police five additional days of custody of both accused after they were produced before the Vadgaon Maval court following the expiry of their earlier remand.

Seeking more time, investigators told the court that several parts of the investigation remain incomplete. Police said they still need to recreate the crime scene with both accused present, trace Chaudhary’s movements after the incident, examine phone conversations exchanged after the alleged murder, and recover evidence linked to the destruction of Agarwal’s passport.

Passport destruction under investigation

According to investigators, Siya Goyal allegedly stole Ketan Agarwal’s passport during a stop at a food mall while the family was travelling to Mumbai airport for a planned pre-wedding trip to Bali. Police alleged that she later tore and burnt the document.

Investigators believe the passport was deliberately destroyed to prevent the couple from travelling together.

The Bali trip was eventually cancelled after Agarwal realised at the airport that his passport was missing.

Earlier in the investigation, the driver who was transporting the group claimed Siya had returned alone to the parked vehicle during the journey and allegedly removed some belongings from inside.

Family celebration video surfaces

Meanwhile, a video recorded at a family function in Pune on May 7 has surfaced online, showing Agarwal celebrating with both families more than a month before his death.

The clips, shared on Instagram by singer Reetu Sharma, show Ketan’s father Vishal Agarwal and Siya’s parents, Pravin Goyal and Pooja Goyal, standing together with relatives as Vishal Agarwal sings the Bollywood song “Yamma Yamma”.

Another clip shows Ketan dancing with Pravin Goyal to the song “Main Nikla Gaddi Leke” from the film Gadar.
