Born into a humble farming family in Mundka village, outer Delhi, he rose to the highest offices of public life while remaining deeply rooted in the values of rural Delhi.
Throughout his journey, he believed that politics was not about power, but about selfless service, especially to the poor.
Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Cabinet Minister Parvesh Verma said, “Late Sahib Singh Verma Ji’s life was a shining example of simplicity, integrity, and selfless public service.”
Remembering his father, the minister said Sahib Singh Verma dedicated himself to safeguarding the dignity, rights, and welfare of those standing at the very last mile of society. The former CM believed that politics was never a means to acquire power, but a sacred responsibility to serve society.
Leaders present at the prayer meeting remembered Sahib Singh as a visionary administrator, an educationist, and a mass leader whose contributions to education, infrastructure, and the empowerment of the weaker sections continue to shape Delhi’s progress.
