India on Sunday categorically rejected Pakistan’s allegations linking New Delhi to the recent incident in Karachi as “baseless” and asked Islamabad to instead “look inwards”.

“We have seen Pakistani reports making baseless allegations against India regarding the recent incident in Karachi. We categorically reject them,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement.

“Instead of pointing fingers at others, Pakistan would do better to look inwards, take credible action against the terror infrastructure on its territory and rid itself of its proclivity to rely on terrorism as an instrument of state policy,” Jaiswal added.

The response from India came after Pakistani Military blamed an “Indian proxy” for Saturday’s attack in which three security personnel were killed.

According to the Pakistani Military, at least four others were also injured in the attack on a provincial headquarters of the Pakistan Rangers.

The militants allegedly rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the Rangers headquarters in Karachi and opened fire.

The militant group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) claimed responsibility for the attack. JuA is reportedly a breakaway faction of the Pakistani Taliban.
