A theft complaint from the official residence of former Bihar minister and JJD chief Tej Pratap Yadav has sparked attention in Patna after allegations of missing cash, jewellery and electronic devices surfaced. The alleged theft reportedly took place at Tej Pratap Yadav’s official residence on Harding Road in the Bihar capital, following which a complaint was lodged at the Secretariat police station.
Tej Pratap Yadav has alleged the involvement of his former associate Motilal Rai in connection with the incident. Police have started an investigation after receiving the complaint and officials have examined the residence. According to the complaint, around Rs 20 lakh in cash, allegedly kept inside a cupboard for party-related purposes, was found missing on June 22. A search of the residence reportedly revealed that several other valuables were also missing.

Cash, jewellery and devices allegedly stolen
The missing items listed in the complaint include a gold chain weighing around two tolas, a gold ring, four pen drives, two hard disks, an iPad, a MacBook laptop, a Lenovo laptop and four iPhone Pro Max mobile phones.
The total value of the missing items has been stated to be several lakhs of rupees.
Following the complaint, police officials from the Secretariat police station visited the residence and inspected the premises.
Police begin probe
Secretariat range DSP Dr. Anu said the complaint was being investigated. “A complaint regarding the theft has been received. The police are investigating the matter seriously. Further action will be taken after considering all the facts. The situation will become clear only after the investigation is complete,” she said.
Investigators are examining available evidence and reviewing different aspects of the case.
Previous theft complaint also reported
The latest incident comes after another theft case linked to Tej Pratap Yadav’s official residence was reported in 2022.
At that time, Tej Pratap Yadav had accused an individual named Chandan, who was associated with the upkeep of the house.
The new complaint has once again brought focus on security arrangements at official residences and access given to people working at or visiting such premises.
Police are expected to verify the allegations, examine evidence and decide further action as the investigation moves ahead.
