What happened at Sandhya Theatre
The stampede occurred when a large crowd gathered outside the theatre to catch a glimpse of the actor during the premiere of Pushpa 2. As Allu Arjun waved to fans from his car’s sunroof, the situation spiralled out of control.
A 35-year-old woman named Revathi died in the incident. Her minor son, Sri Teja, suffered oxygen deprivation, leading to severe complications.
An FIR was registered against Allu Arjun, his personal security team, and the Sandhya Theatre management under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt.
Sri Teja’s condition
Sri Teja was initially rushed to the emergency department in a semi-conscious condition. He later developed respiratory failure and severe neurological complications and was kept on ventilator support for several weeks. Medical staff discharged him in April 2025 after five months in intensive care. He then moved to a Ramgopalpet rehabilitation centre, where he is currently undergoing speech and swallowing therapy.
The family has reported very little improvement. He struggles to recognise family members and shows minimal emotional response.
