Under the collaboration, Agniveers will gain access to a range of academic programmes, including short-duration diploma courses that can be completed within six months. In addition, the university will offer undergraduate degree programmes such as Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), allowing soldiers to continue their studies while serving in the armed forces.

Officials said the initiative has been designed to enhance the educational credentials, employability and long-term career readiness of Agniveers. The programme is expected to equip young soldiers with knowledge and skills that can support them both during their military tenure and in future civilian careers.
The collaboration reflects the Sikh Regiment’s emphasis on the holistic development of its personnel and its commitment to preparing them for opportunities beyond active service. By integrating education with military training, the regiment aims to help Agniveers build a stronger foundation for personal and professional growth.
The initiative is also aligned with the Government of India’s broader vision of creating a skilled, educated and future-ready youth workforce capable of contributing effectively to nation-building and economic development.
Defence officials noted that the programme reinforces the regiment’s long-standing ethos of “Service Before Self,” while ensuring that Agniveers receive opportunities for continuous learning and self-improvement throughout their service journey.
The Sikh Regiment, one of the Indian Army’s most decorated infantry regiments, has consistently focused on the welfare and advancement of its soldiers, and the latest academic partnership is being viewed as another step towards empowering young servicemen through education and skill development.
