The upcoming film ‘The India Story: Slow Poison In Progress’ has run into legal trouble. The film stars Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade. A legal notice has been served against its makers over the way it portrays Indian agriculture.
The notice was issued on June 15. Advocate Hiranya Pandey sent it on behalf of Bhavesh Sodha, proprietor of Agri Business Centre. It was addressed to Zee Studios, MIG Production and Studios LLP, and the film’s producers.

Film’s title and content reportedly describe India’s agricultural system as source of “slow poison.” It points to pesticide use, food adulteration, rising cancer cases as central themes.
The complainant argues these depictions harm the reputation of farmers, dairy producers, poultry businesses, agro-input suppliers. Notice states such portrayals could create unnecessary fear among public about food safety.
One major objection involves pesticide usage. The film allegedly suggests India uses excessive amounts of pesticides in farming.
The complainant disputes this claim. The notice states that pesticide consumption per hectare in India is lower than in several other countries. This comparison forms a key part of the legal challenge against the film’s content.
The notice makes several specific demands. It asks the filmmakers to share the research and source material behind the statistics shown in the film. It also asks for details on the methodology used to support the visuals and claims presented.
The notice further demands the immediate removal of the teaser and related promotional content from digital platforms. It calls for changes to the film before its theatrical release.
“The India Story: Slow Poison In Progress” is going for release on July 24, 2026. The film features Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade in lead roles.
The legal notice arrives ahead of the film’s planned release date. It raises questions about how the makers will respond to the demands before the film reaches theatres.
