The Railways has announced additional services for the aspirants of West Bengal Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2024, to be held this Sunday.
To facilitate ease of travel to the examinees, guardians and other commuters, Kolkata Metro Railway has announced additional services in the Blue and Green Lines. The first service on these corridors is to start from 8 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. while the timings of the last Metro services from terminal stations have been kept unchanged. In the Blue Line, 156 services instead of 152 would be operated. During the morning peak hours between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Metro services will run at an interval of 30 minutes in both up and down directions. The Metro authorities would operate the normal Sunday timetable during the later parts of the day.

In resonance with the Blue Line, the Green Line also is to have 112 services instead of the existing 108 generally operated on Sundays. The services during peak hours in this stretch also are to be operated at an interval of 30 minutes in both directions between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Like the city Metro, the South Eastern Railway has also decided to run certain EMU and MEMU local train services which normally remain cancelled/not operated on Sundays for the WBCS Preliminary Examination–2024. The SER is to run 38917 Howrah–Amta, 38313 Howrah–Mecheda, 38435 Howrah-Panskura, 38443 Howrah–Panskura, 38445 Howrah–Panskura and 38703 Howrah–Kharagpur in the Up direction. In the Down direction, local trains including 38708 Kharagpur–Howrah, 38414 Panskura–Howrah, 38420 Panskura–Howrah, 38426 Panskura–Howrah, 38104 Uluberia–Howrah and 38922 Amta–Howrah.
Apart from this, the zonal railway would also operate 68093 Kharagpur–Jhargram MEMU and 68023 Jhargram–Purulia MEMU trains in the up direction and 68024 Purulia–Jhargram MEMU and 68094 Jhargram–Kharagpur MEMU in the down direction.
