MP Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, state BJP President Hemant Khandelwal, and several other party leaders accompanied the two candidates as they filed their nominations.
Returning Officer Arvind Sharma collected the nomination papers for scrutiny.
The Rajya Sabha polls for three seats in Madhya Pradesh will be held on 18 June.
The ruling BJP has fielded candidates on only two seats.
The Congress has fielded Meenakshi Natrajan on the third seat.
Natrajan is a former Lok Sabha Member and a trusted member of Rahul Gandhi’s core team.
With the BJP declaring its candidates for only two of the three seats and Congress also fielding just a single candidate, it is almost a given that the BJP will get two Rajya Sabha seats and the Congress one.
That way, the BJP would retain both seats, currently occupied by Union Minister of State George Kurian and Sumer Singh Solanki.
Similarly, the Congress would hold on to its single seat previously held by former MP CM Digvijaya Singh.
In the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly, the BJP has 164 MLAs and the Congress has 64. The Bharat Adivasi Party holds one seat, and one assembly seat remains vacant.
