Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Thursday said that climatic factors such as El Niño and instability in West Asia have contributed to a global energy crisis, affecting the availability and prices of petroleum products and natural gas.
However, under the capable leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is emerging from these challenges with strength and resilience.

The Chief Minister was addressing the state-level launch ceremony of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Dr Yadav described the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy as one of the most devastating incidents in history, causing immense harm to both people and the environment.
He said that after four decades, the State Government had successfully disposed of the hazardous waste lying at the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal, thereby removing a long-standing blot associated with the tragedy.
He asserted that the government is now moving ahead with the proper management and redevelopment of the Union Carbide site.
Dr Yadav emphasised that the concept of environmental conservation is deeply embedded in Sanatan culture. He said that every element of nature plays a vital role in preserving the universe, which is composed of the five elements, and that their significance is reflected in the country’s traditions, rituals, food habits, and devotional practices.
“In Sanatan culture, a single tree is considered equivalent to ten sons,” he said.
The Chief Minister stated that environmental conservation is an integral part of the Indian way of life.
Dr Yadav said that dedicated efforts are being undertaken across Madhya Pradesh under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan to conserve rivers, wells, stepwells, and ponds.
He further said that several key initiatives are being implemented in the state to promote clean and green energy. Rapid progress is being made in solar, wind, biomass, and hydropower projects. Large-scale green energy projects are also being developed at Sanchi, Khajuraho, and other locations across Madhya Pradesh.
Reiterating the State Government’s commitment to environmental and wildlife conservation, Dr Yadav noted that, in addition to the successful rehabilitation of cheetahs, wild buffaloes have also been brought from Assam.
“Madhya Pradesh is setting a benchmark in wildlife conservation while promoting harmonious coexistence between humans and nature,” he said.
As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, the Chief Minister also planted saplings of Swarn Champa, Sita Ashok, Ramphal, and Amla in the convention centre premises.
