Maharashtra: 17-year-old girl hangs self over ‘lack of funds’ to repair damaged mobile phone screen

In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old girl allegedly hanged herself at her home in Virar in Maharashtra’s Palghar district as she was apparantly depressed over a damaged mobile phone.

Police officials said on Wednesday, June 3, that preliminary investigation in the matter revealed that the girl was depressed over not having enough funds to get the damaged mobile phone screen repaired, PTI reported.

“She hanged herself from the iron rod in her house using a stole on Sunday night,” a senior police official said.

As of now, police have registered a case of accidental death in connection with the matter and started further investigation.
