Malviya Nagar fire tragedy: Delhi Police arrest hotel owner after blaze kills 21
The development comes hours after the fire broke out at the multi-storey building in South Delhi.

A case has been registered under culpable homicide and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the Malviya Nagar fire incident, which claimed the lives of 21 people.
According to reports, the owner of the hotel has been identified as Lokesh Bajaj. It is being stated that three partners were involved in the hotel’s operations, while they allegedly own several other hotels and guest houses across the city.

As many as 21 people, including foreign nationals, have lost their lives in the fire that broke out at a multi-storied hotel in Malviya Nagar on Wednesday morning, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) (South Delhi) Jitender Kumar said.
He further noted that among the 47 rescued people, 26 were currently undergoing treatment.
“Our search and rescue operation was completed at 12:12 p.m. A total of 47 people were rescued, out of which 21 have died, and 26 are undergoing treatment,” IANS quoted SDM Kumar as saying.
Senior officials from Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Services as well as rescue services continue to remain present at the scene and are monitoring the situation.
