An FIR was registered against former West Bengal Sports Minister Aroop Biswas in connection with the chaos at Salt Lake’s Yuva Bharati Krirangan during Lionel Messi’s GOAT India Tour on December 13, 2025.
The case was filed at the Bidhannagar South police station by officials on Saturday night after a complaint was lodged by the main organiser of the event, Satadru Dutta, on May 17, IANS reported.

The complaint against Biswas was filed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to black marketing of tickets, extortion, criminal intimidation and cheating.

Police officials said that former state sports minister could be summoned by the Bidhannagar Commissionerate soon in connection with the matter.

In a social media post, Dutta thanked the Suvendu Adhikari-led government for filing the FIR against the former West Bengal minister.
“Satyameva Jayate. FIR registered against Aroop Biswas, Ex Sports Minister. Thank you Honourable CM of West Bengal, Honourable Sports Minister of West Bengal and honourable DGP of West Bengal,” Dutta wrote.
In his complaint, Dutta earlier claimed that Biswas black-marketed nearly 22,000 tickets for the Lionel Messi’s event, while the Bidhannagar South Police Station has started an investigation into it.
Nisith Pramanik, current Sports Minister of West Bengal, spoke about opening a file in the Messi event fiasco after assuming charge, IANS reported.
Satadru Dutta earlier claimed that Aroop Biswas surrounded Messi along with his close circle members when he entered the venue without permission. Using his influence, he allegedly came close to Messi and breaching the security of the Argentine footballer.
Notably, Dutta has even filed a complaint against TMC councillor Jui Biswas, sister-in-law of Aroop Biswas and then DGP Rajeev Kumar.
