The White House on Wednesday dismissed the draft proposal of the peace agreement released by the Iranian state media as a “complete fabrication”.

“This report from Iranian-controlled media is not true and the MOU they ‘released’ is a complete fabrication. Nobody should believe what Iranian state media is putting out. FACTS MATTER,” said the statement issued by Rapid Responses 47, the official White House communication page on X.

As per the alleged draft proposal, Iran would continue to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz with cooperation from Oman.

It further stipulates that the United States would lift its military blockade in the Strait of Hormuz while Iran would allow shipping vessels to return to prewar levels within a month of its implementation.

Moreover, the United States would also withdraw its troops from regions near Iran.

If the agreement is reached within 60 days, it would have to be formalised through a United Nations Security Council resolution.

The Iranian state media, however, didn’t mention Iran’s nuclear programme or its enriched uranium being part of the alleged draft proposal.

The US and Iran are negotiating a deal to end the war that has been going on since February 28, when the US and Israel first attacked Tehran.

However, the two sides have had little success as the negotiations are not moving fast enough due to various reasons.

US President Donald Trump has insisted any deal with Iran will have to include Tehran’s nuclear programme and enriched uranium, demands that have been among the key sticking points.
