Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh visited the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru on Tuesday. The visit came at a time when the actor is dealing with two separate controversies: a Non-Cooperation Directive issued by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and a legal matter arising from a Kantara mimicry incident.
The temple visit
Videos from the temple premises began circulating online, showing the actor seated on the floor during rituals before later greeting temple priests and posing for photographs.

The Chamundeshwari Temple is located atop Chamundi Hills, around 13 kilometres from Mysuru, and is one of Karnataka’s most spiritually significant temples. It is a temple of Goddess Chamundeshwari, a fierce incarnation of Goddess Durga.
The court order behind the visit
The temple visit was not entirely voluntary. On November 28, 2025, Ranveer Singh took the stage during the closing ceremony of the 56th IFFI Festival to promote his film ‘Dhurandhar’. While appreciating the performance of Rishab Shetty, he mimicked the Daiva possession scene from the film ‘Kantara’. This led to registration of complaint for offences under Sections 196, 299, 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The Karnataka High Court accepted Ranveer Singh’s unconditional apology in the ‘Kantara’ mimicry case following a revised affidavit submitted by the actor. The court disposed of the matter and directed him to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru within four weeks.
The FWICE non-cooperation directive
Separately, Ranveer is also at the centre of a professional dispute. FWICE announced a Non-Cooperation Directive against the actor. In their official statement, the workers’ federation claimed it had sent Ranveer many notices before deciding on the action.
FWICE stated: “Considering the conduct displayed towards the Federation and the stakeholders associated with the project, the office bearers of FWICE have resolved to issue a Non-Cooperation Directive against Mr. Ranveer Singh.”
The NCD is linked to the actor’s reported exit from the film ‘Don 3’. Excel Entertainment had already invested significant resources into scripting, scheduling, location planning, and other pre-production activities before the alleged exit took place. FWICE officials reportedly viewed the situation as a larger industry concern rather than an isolated issue.
FWICE also stated that it remains open to meeting with Ranveer Singh to hear his side of the matter and to arrive at an amicable resolution in the interest of both parties.
Actor breaks silence
Following the FWICE action, Ranveer’s spokesperson issued a statement. The statement said: “Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding ‘Don 3’, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity, and mutual respect.”
As of now, there is no resolution between Ranveer Singh and FWICE. The ‘Don 3’ project remains in limbo.
