Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh over the state’s worsening power crisis.
He said that frightened BJP MLAs and MPs are creating a “paper shield” of letters to protect themselves from the growing public anger caused by the severe power crisis in the state.

Sharing a post on social media on Monday, Akhilesh Yadav said that these letters written by BJP leaders are not “public interest letters” addressed to their government, but rather “applications for tickets” from the opposition for the upcoming elections, as they prepare to abandon the BJP’s “sinking ship.”
He made it clear that there is no place in the SP alliance for leaders who bring only pain and hardship to the public.
The SP chief said that only ordinary families can truly understand the suffering of the elderly, the sick, children, and women struggling for food and water amid the scorching heat. He added that those who once sought opportunities in disasters have instead found an “officer” who himself has turned out to be a disaster.
Akhilesh Yadav sarcastically remarked that problems cannot be solved by those who merely raise their hands and shout slogans, but disappear when asked to provide solutions.
He said this is a great opportunity for someone to remove a completely failed “messenger-minister.” It would also give the Chief Minister a chance to expand the cabinet and accommodate a “giftless” individual.
Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh knows it will never return to power. Therefore, he claimed, it is completely ignoring public grievances and demands while focusing solely on filling its coffers. He added that people now say the BJP has become a burden.
