A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has been dispatched to Bhopal to take over the investigation into the death of Twisha Sharma, who was found hanging at her matrimonial home in the capital city of Madhya Pradesh on May 12.
The CBI team will formally take charge of the investigation from the Madhya Pradesh police later today.

The development comes shortly after the Supreme Court heard the matter after taking suo motu cognisance.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court said that a media report “raised questions of institutional bias and discrepancies”, noting that a narrative was built that fair investigation was denied due to the involvement of the judiciary.
“The reason that was reported for the alleged lack of impartiality was that the husband of the deceased is a practising lawyer and the mother is a former district judge. The question was whether undue influence can be exercised in the investigation,” the top court said.
Twisha Sharma, originally from Noida, was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal. Her family members alleged that she was subjected to dowry harassment by her husband Samarth Singh, a practicing advocate, and mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge.
However, Giribala Singh has dismissed the allegations, claiming that Twisha was suffering from mental health issues and battling drug addiction.
Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma dismissed the claims of her in-laws, alleging attempts to protect her husband and mother-in-law.
Earlier on Friday, her husband was taken into custody by Bhopal police and sent to a seven-day custodial remand.
Meanwhile, a second post-mortem examination was ordered after objections were raised by the victim’s family regarding the first autopsy conducted at AIIMS-Bhopal.
A team of senior doctors from AIIMS-Delhi visited Bhopal to conduct the fresh examination and interact with the family members regarding their concerns.
Following the second autopsy, Twisha Sharma’s last rites were performed at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat in Bhopal on Sunday evening in the presence of a large gathering of family members, relatives, and supporters.
