In a major action against drug crime, police in Jammu demolished three properties linked to an alleged drug peddler in the Miran Sahib area on Saturday. According to officials, the properties were worth nearly Rs 4 crore and belonged to Navjot Singh, also known as Bablu, who is facing multiple criminal cases related to drug trafficking.

The action was carried out jointly by the Jammu Headquarters Zone Police and the district administration as part of the ongoing crackdown on narcotics in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police shared details of the operation on social media platform X, stating that Bablu has 15 FIRs registered against him. Authorities said the demolition sends a strong message against those involved in the illegal drug trade in the region.

National flags removed respectfully before demolition

The demolition drive also drew attention because of an unusual moment during the operation. Officials said the police briefly stopped the demolition after spotting two tabletop national flags inside the building.

According to authorities, the officers wanted to make sure the Tricolour was handled respectfully before the structure was brought down. A policeman was sent inside the building to retrieve the flags carefully while the demolition team paused work for a short time.

Officials later confirmed that the operation resumed only after the flags had been removed properly.

A video from the site soon appeared on social media, showing a policeman entering the damaged building and carrying out the national flags during the demolition drive. The operation was reportedly led by Sub-Inspector Rinku Sharma.

The incident happened on the outskirts of Jammu city in the Miran Sahib area, where the authorities have been increasing anti-drug operations in recent months.

Bigger crackdown under ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan’

The demolition in Jammu came on the same day that Srinagar Police announced another major action against alleged drug peddlers.

Police in Srinagar said they had attached properties worth around Rs 5 crore belonging to suspected drug dealers in Srinagar and nearby areas. Officials described it as the biggest property attachment carried out so far under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan”.

The anti-drug campaign was launched on April 6 by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha as part of a 100-day mission aimed at reducing drug abuse and dismantling narcotics networks across the Union Territory.

Authorities say the campaign focuses not only on arresting accused persons but also on targeting assets believed to have been built using money earned from drug trafficking.

Police officials have repeatedly stated that strict action against drug networks will continue across Jammu and Kashmir. Recent operations, including demolitions and property seizures, are being seen as part of a wider effort to weaken the financial backbone of narcotics trade in the region.
