Caught on camera: Congress leader Ajay Rai makes filthy comments at PM Modi

Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) chief Ajay Rai on Friday, May 22, courted major controversy after he was caught on camera making highly objectionable and filthy comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The incident has snowballed into a major political firestorm, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking strong offence to it.

In the now-viral video, Ajay Rai could be seen making distasteful remarks while waving to a group of people who apparently assembled to see him off.

Amit Malviya, the head of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s national IT cell, took cognisance of the incident and shared the despicable video on X, capturing the moment when Ajay Rai blurted out disparaging remarks against the Prime Minister.

“A few days ago, when UPCC chief Ajay Rai was unwell, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had publicly wished for his speedy recovery. But today, the same Ajay Rai was caught on camera using indecent language against the Prime Minister. This is the level of Congress’s politics – responding to courtesy with rudeness,” Malviya wrote on the social media platform.

The alleged abusive comments from Ajay Rai against Prime Minister Modi are expected to invite huge backlash from the people as well.

Reacting to the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote on X, “The indecent, unparliamentary, and inexcusable remark made by the Uttar Pradesh Congress President regarding the respected Prime Minister Shri
@narendramodi ji reveals the political depravity of the Congress. Previously, Congress’s ‘Yuvraj’ has also introduced his own depravity. The Congress has now reached the pinnacle of desperation, despair, frustration, and mental bankruptcy. Now, they are no longer even in a position worthy of seeking forgiveness from the countrymen.”

Notably, the Congress leader was hospitalised in a Lucknow hospital on May 2 when he suddenly fainted at a public event, as his sodium levels dropped.

On the same day, Prime Minister Modi wished him speedy recovery and said that he was concerned over the sudden news of Ajay Rai’s ill-health.

After recovery, Ajay Rai has been attacking the central government over a spate of issues, including NEET paper leaks.

The Congress leader had challenged the Prime Minister from the Varanasi seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and was defeated by a margin of more than 1.5 lakh votes.
