Emphasising the growing role of technology in modern policing, Manoj Sinha on Sunday urged the Jammu and Kashmir Police to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into policing operations and prepare a roadmap to make the force future-ready against emerging security threats.
Sinha was speaking after handing over appointment letters to 4,000 newly recruited constables of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Srinagar.

“Joining the Jammu and Kashmir Police is not merely a career choice but the acceptance of a legacy written in blood. I am confident that you will rise to the occasion and uphold the honour of this glorious force,” he said.
Paying tribute to the bravehearts of the J&K Police, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the peace and progress enjoyed by the people of Jammu and Kashmir are the result of the unwavering resolve and sacrifices made by police personnel.
“The Jammu and Kashmir Police stands as a testament to selfless service, duty, sacrifice and public trust. It is recognised as a benchmark of excellence in upholding the rule of law and executing counter-terrorism operations,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also spoke about the changing landscape of internal security and called for greater integration of AI in policing operations. He urged the J&K Police to prepare a roadmap to make the force future-ready.
He emphasised that the battlefield has expanded beyond physical borders and warned that modern threats such as cybercrime, narco-terrorism, digital fraud and narrative warfare are increasingly being driven by technology rather than traditional weaponry.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that the complete eradication of all forms of terrorism and ensuring public safety remain the government’s top priorities.
“Today, the world’s most dangerous criminals and terrorists do not always carry weapons; instead, they exploit code, data and encrypted networks to operate across borders. Cybercrime, narco-terrorism, digital fraud and narrative warfare are no longer threats of the distant future; they are the stark realities of the present. They are claiming lives, destroying livelihoods and eroding the trust upon which the stability of every system ultimately rests,” he said.
He also urged recruits across all wings of the J&K Police to leverage robust digital infrastructure to combat these threats effectively. Atal Dulloo, Nalin Prabhat and Chandraker Bharti were among those present on the occasion.
