Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who represents Wayanad in the Lok Sabha, is reportedly facing pressure and a “flood of emails” from Congress workers in her constituency demanding that V D Satheesan be appointed as the Chief Minister.
Satheesan’s Wayanad supporters have launched an organized campaign, flooding her official email with appeals to appoint him as the new Chief Minister of Kerala. They held public demonstrations on Friday and Saturday to show the high command that the “man who led the battle” should lead the state.

Demonstrations supporting V D Satheesan for the Chief Minister post were held in Kalpetta, the headquarters of the Wayanad district on Friday and Saturday. At Kalpetta, large hoardings and banners supporting Satheesan remain a major focal point, with local workers and leaders expressing strong sentiment that public demand must be respected.
In addition to the main hub in Kalpetta, Congress workers organized rallies and “flex wars” to show solidarity with the Leader of the Opposition. They held marches in Meppadi and Vythiri, displaying placards with the popular slogan: “Let the man who led the battle lead the state.”
Local units of the Youth Congress also organized rallies in Kainatty and Kattikulam, Watanad, to maintain pressure on the high command.
Various local Muslim organizations and grassroots IUML workers have participated in the rallies and “flex wars” across the Kozhikode district, including in Mukkam, where demonstrators highlighted Satheesan’s role in protecting secular interests.
Meanwhile, Youth League, the youth wing of IUML workers, put up flex boards at Irikkur in Kannur district, publicly criticizing Congress leader Mathew Kuzhalnadan after he suggested the IUML should not interfere in internal Congress matters regarding the Chief Minister choice.
Youth League workers installed prominent flex boards at Iritty in Kannur with slogans like “Kuzhalnada, don’t play your ‘Kuzhalut’ (pipe-blowing) against the League”. The boards also carry the pro-Satheesan slogan: “Let those who led the battle rule”.
IUML State Working Committee member, E.A.M. Ameen, has posted on his Facebook account scathing critiques of Kuzhalnadan, clarifying that the Muslim League is not interfering in “kitchen matters” but expressing a legitimate opinion on who should lead the state.
The IUML leadership has formally lodged a complaint with AICC observers Ajay Maken and Mukul Wasnik, stating that Kuzhalnadan’s remarks undermine the unity and stability of the UDF alliance.
Kuzhalnadan stood by his statement, arguing that while the IUML is a “brotherly” party, the choice of the Congress Legislature Party leader is a matter for the Congress alone.
Outside the state, IUML and MSF (Muslim Student Federation) workers gave Satheesan a grand welcome at Kerala House in New Delhi, when he arrived Friday night, showing significant strength. They also reportedly raised slogans against KPCC President Sunny Joseph upon his arrival.
Supporters of Satheesan have also launched massive digital campaigns, flooding the official email accounts of other Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. These messages demand that Satheesan be named Chief Minister, citing his role as the architect of the UDF’s 102-seat win.
