Following the sensational murder of a close aide of senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, the Siliguri Police Commissionerate has reportedly issued security advisories to several BJP leaders and functionaries considered close to the party’s senior leadership.
According to BJP leaders, police officials contacted several local leaders on Wednesday night, urging them to remain cautious and follow specific security protocols until the formation of the new government.

Sources said that after the murder, senior police officials particularly alerted BJP leaders in Siliguri and adjoining areas, who had actively campaigned alongside Mr Adhikari during the recent Assembly elections, including in the Bhawanipore.
Senior BJP leader of the Siliguri organisational district, Manik Arora, claimed that police personnel contacted him late at night and advised him to strictly follow precautionary measures while travelling and attending public engagements.
“Police officials called us around midnight and advised us to remain careful. They shared several guidelines regarding movement and personal security,” Mr Arora said.
He further claimed that Central Armed Police Forces personnel were seen patrolling near the residences of some BJP leaders from midnight onwards.
According to party leaders, the advisory included instructions on safe movement in cars and on motorcycles, including seating positions and travel patterns aimed at minimising security risks.
Notably, Mr Arora and several BJP leaders considered close to Mr Adhikari had campaigned for the BJP in Bhawanipore and other constituencies during the Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, a senior officer of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate also issued a public advisory for people planning to sell personal vehicles, including scooters and motorcycles.
The officer cautioned citizens against uploading photographs of vehicles with clearly visible registration numbers or number plates on online platforms while advertising them for sale.
Police warned that criminals could misuse such registration details to create duplicate number plates for illegal activities.
The advisory further urged sellers to ensure that ownership transfer formalities are properly completed after the sale of any vehicle. Citizens were advised to verify through the Regional Transport Office (RTO) that the vehicle has officially been transferred in the buyer’s name and to preserve all relevant documents for future reference.
Police officials warned that failure to complete proper transfer procedures could lead to serious legal complications if the vehicle is later used in criminal activities.
