Joshi’s arrest, the second time in this scam, comes after the arrest of retired IAS Subodh Agarwal last month. Earlier, the former minister was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in April last year for money laundering pertaining to these scam-related transactions. He had remained in jail for almost seven months and is currently on bail.
As many as 18 persons have been named as accused in the scam, in which forged documentation and transactions involving funds of over ₹979 crore have so far been identified. Of the 18 accused, 11 are in custody, three are still untraced, while four others have secured immunity from arrest.
