At least 16 members of a family, including women and children, were rushed to a hospital when they lost consciousness after consuming tea at their home in Sindh’s Mehar area in Pakistan.
According to local police, the incident took place in Gul Colony, a residential area in the city of Mehar in Dadu district, ARY News reported.

As of now, authorities are trying to determine the cause of the illness and have launched an investigation into the matter.
The medical staff at the hospital informed that this might have happened due to food poisoning, likely caused by contaminated milk or tea leaves. Among those affected include men, women and children. Out of them, two women are said to be in critical condition and have been referred to a private hospital for specialised treatment.
Authorities are currently waiting for the laboratory test results to come out to get details regarding the nature of the contamination.
Last year, nine people, including two women and seven children, had fallen seriously ill after they consumed poisonous tea in Ward No. 10 of Chowk Azam, a tehsil of Layyah district.
All of them were said to have consumed tea suspected to be contaminated with toxic substances. This caused their condition to deteriorate rapidly.
