Abhishek leaves CID office after 6.5 hours of questioning, makes stopover at Mamata’s residence
The party second-in command has been questioned for a marathon 31 hours over the last four days by the CID as well as the Enforcement Directorate.

Amid ongoing re-polling at 15 polling booths under two Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, a 55.57 per cent voter turnout has been registered till 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
According to the official data shared by the Election Commission, 56.33 per cent voter turnout has been recorded till 1 p.m. in Magrahat Paschim, while it stands at 54.9% in Diamond Harbour.

Voting for the second phase of 2026 Assembly elections in West Bengal, covering 142 Assembly segments in the state, was held on April 29. Later on, the poll panel ordered repolling across 11 polling stations in Magrahat Paschim as well as four in Diamond Harbour after complaints of irregularities.

Notably, voting for all the 15 polling stations started at 7 a.m. on Saturday and will continue till 6 p.m.
Earlier in the day, voting at a polling booth under Diamond Harbour seat was disrupted after the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) developed a technical fault. The incident was reported at booth number 243 in Ward number 11 of the Raynagar area under Diamond Harbour Assembly constituency.
As per sources, the EVM malfunction was detected at around 8 a.m. and the polling process was temporarily suspended. Later on, Election Commission officials rushed to the booth after receiving information about the glitch, while efforts were made to replace the defective EVM and restore normal polling operations at the earliest.
The high-stakes 2026 Assembly elections in West Bengal, witnessing a neck-to-neck contest between the ruling TMC and BJP, are being held under blanket security coverage of central forces assisted by personnel from the state police forces in the state.
Voting for the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 took place in two phases on April 23 and April 29. During the first phase, polling was held in 152 Assembly constituencies, followed by the remaining 142 Assembly constituencies in the second phase.
After the completion of the re-polling at 15 polling booths under two Assembly constituencies, the counting of votes will be done on May 4.
