As polling for the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections got underway on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to voters to turn out in large numbers and strengthen democratic participation.
With several constituencies voting in this phase, the Prime Minister’s message came as an early push for higher turnout, especially among key voter groups that often influence outcomes in tightly contested seats.

In posts on social media platform X, Modi said, “Today is Phase-2 of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026. Urging all those voting today to do so in record numbers and make our democracy more vibrant as well as participative.”

He also made a specific appeal to women and young voters. “It is important that the women and youth of West Bengal, in particular, turnout in large numbers and exercise their franchise,” he wrote.
In another message shared in Bangla, the Prime Minister reiterated the call for participation, stressing that a strong turnout would help make democracy more vibrant and inclusive.
