‎He also encouraged officials to continue pursuing excellence, innovation and compassion in public service. “May our civil servants continue to serve with excellence, compassion and innovation, upholding the highest standards of duty,” Modi said.

‎Observed annually on April 21, Civil Services Day recognises the contributions of India’s bureaucracy and reaffirms their dedication to public service. The day also marks the historic 1947 address by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who described civil servants as the “steel frame” of the nation, highlighting their role in preserving unity and integrity.
‎The occasion is typically marked by official events and the presentation of awards to officers for exemplary performance, reflecting the government’s emphasis on efficiency, transparency and citizen-centric governance.
