India capped off a strong campaign at the 2026 Asian Wrestling Championships in Bishkek with two silver and one bronze medal on the final day, taking their overall tally to 17 medals on Sunday.
The Indian contingent finished with two gold, six silver, and nine bronze medals to secure second place in the team standings behind Iran, who topped the table with 178 points. India followed closely with 162 points, while Japan finished third with 127.

Across categories, India’s freestyle wrestlers led the charge with an impressive haul of two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. The women’s team contributed one silver and four bronze medals to the tally.
On the final day, India had two shots at gold but fell short in both finals.
In the men’s 61kg freestyle final, Aman Sehrawat went down fighting against Kwang Myong Kim of North Korea in a high-scoring bout that ended 13-10. Aman, a Paris Olympics bronze medallist in the 57kg category, was competing in a higher weight class in Bishkek.
In the 86kg final, Mukul Dahiya lost 0-7 to Kamran Ghasempour, adding another silver to India’s tally.
Dinesh wrapped up India’s campaign on a positive note, clinching bronze in the 125kg category with a dominant 12-1 win over Arslanbek Turdubekov of Kyrgyzstan.
Despite missing out on gold on the final day, India’s consistent performances across categories ensured a strong second-place finish in the continental showpiece.
