Tu Yaa Main
Let’s start with a love story that clearly didn’t get the “safe holiday” memo. ‘Tu Yaa Main’ drops on April 10 on Netflix, and it begins like a dreamy influencer romance.
Two social media influencers fall for each other during a getaway, expecting filters, fun and flirtation. But the vibe changes fast when the couple gets trapped in a swimming pool… with a crocodile. Yes, romance literally meets reptile horror here.
The film stars Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav.
Thrash
Netflix is not done yet. Another release, ‘Thrash’, also arriving on April 10, takes survival drama to extreme levels.
The story follows a woman who is nine months pregnant and trapped inside her car during a devastating Category 5 hurricane in South Carolina. As if rising floodwaters weren’t enough, sharks start circling her submerged vehicle.
Starring Phoebe Dynevor, Djimon Hounsou and Whitney Peak, this one is basically nature turning into a full-blown villain.
Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa
Switching gears from natural disasters to classic murder mystery energy, Zee5 brings ‘Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa’ on April 10.
Directed by Rajat Kapoor, this film is being described as a “desi Knives Out”-style whodunnit. The story unfolds at an anniversary celebration in a remote mansion in Himachal Pradesh.
But the party mood dies quickly when Sohrab Handa, a foul-mouthed and aggressive businessman, is found dead with his throat slit.
The ensemble cast includes Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Saurabh Shukla, Koel Purie and Sadia Siddiqui.
Main Woh Aur Fuji
SonyLIV brings an emotional Hindi adaptation titled ‘Main Woh Aur Fuji’, based on the Marathi film ‘Toh Ti Ani Fuji’.
The story tracks a couple whose intense relationship slowly turns toxic because of conflicting ambitions. Their love doesn’t survive the pressure, and they separate after a painful breakup.
But fate has its own plans. Seven years later, they unexpectedly cross paths in Japan, with Mount Fuji forming a dramatic backdrop to their unresolved emotions.
The film stars Lalit Prabhakar, Mrinmayee Godbole, Omprakash Shinde and Kabir Jueelee Deven.
O’ Romeo
Amazon Prime Video is adding a gritty flavour with ‘O’ Romeo’, which has been available for rent since March 27 but officially joins the April 10 OTT lineup spotlight.
Set in the 1990s and inspired by Hussain Zaidi’s ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’, the film follows Ustara, a stylish hitman who secretly works for the police while carrying out deadly assignments.
Things get complicated when he meets Afsha, a widow seeking revenge against a powerful gangster.
The star-studded cast includes Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Vikrant Massey, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani and Farida Jalal.
Thaai Kizhavi
On JioHotstar, ‘Thaai Kizhavi’ brings a grounded emotional story set in a rural landscape.
The narrative revolves around a strong-willed elderly woman who is dealing with personal struggles while also facing challenges from society.
Radikaa Sarathkumar leads the cast alongside Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Bala Saravanan and Ilavarasu.
Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair
Fans of chaotic family sitcoms get a nostalgia hit with ‘Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair’, streaming on JioHotstar from April 10.
The story picks up 20 years later, where Malcolm is now an adult and a father himself. He is pulled back into his dysfunctional family world during his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary.
Frankie Muniz returns as Malcolm, joined by Jane Kaczmarek, Bryan Cranston, Christopher Masterson, Justin Berfield, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, Emy Coligado and Anthony Timpano.
Kaakkee Circus
Zee5 also drops a Tamil web series titled ‘Kaakkee Circus’, which brings a quirky crime-comedy angle.
The story follows a book-loving jailer and an overenthusiastic constable who team up for a bizarre mission to find a stolen temple donation box that has gone missing from a sub-jail.
Rajesh Madhavan and Munishkanth lead this lighthearted investigative adventure.
Outcome
Apple TV+ closes the weekend lineup with ‘Outcome’, a dark comedy with a Hollywood twist.
The story centres on Reef Hawk, a popular Hollywood star whose perfect image begins to crumble when he is blackmailed with a mysterious video. As secrets from his past resurface, his career and reputation come under serious threat.
Keanu Reeves leads the cast alongside Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer and others in a story that dives into personal demons.
Mammootty and Mohanlal on ZEE5. A quiet Tamil drama earning praise on Netflix. A debut director making his mark on JioHotstar. Three reasons to stay in this week.
A Delhi police officer investigates the disappearance of two teenagers in Raakh, a Hindi-language investigative crime thriller. The series stars Ali Fazal, Sonali Bendre, Aamir Bashir, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Rakesh Bedi.
Six cousins. Seven weddings. Twenty-five years of love, chaos, and family drama. 'Cousins and Kalyanams' follows a group of Kerala cousins as they grow from carefree youngsters into adults juggling life's expectations.
