A two-and-a-half-year-old boy fell into a 200-feet-deep borewell and got trapped at a depth of around 75 feet in an agricultural field in the district on Thursday night, officials said.
The incident occurred in Jhalaria village under Badnagar tehsil. On receiving information, local police led by Station House Officer Ashok Patidar rushed to the spot along with rescue teams.

The child has been identified as Bhagirath Devasi. His parents, shepherds from Pali district, had arrived in the area with a group a few days ago.
Rescue teams from the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) initiated efforts by digging a parallel pit and managed to reach a depth of about 40 feet late into the night. However, the operation was halted due to hard rock formations obstructing further drilling.
SDERF Commandant Santosh Jat said on Friday morning that a hammer machine has been requisitioned to break through the rocky layer. In parallel, teams are also considering lowering a rope into the borewell to secure the child and pull him out safely.
Authorities have deployed a camera inside the borewell to continuously monitor the child’s condition, while oxygen is being supplied through a pipe.
According to Ujjain Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma, teams from the NDRF and SDERF, along with nearly 200 personnel, are engaged in the rescue operation. Two ambulances have been stationed at the site.
Officials added that water is present at a deeper level inside the borewell, increasing the urgency of the rescue efforts. Notably, Ujjain is the home district of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
