The Israel Defense Forces has carried out a large-scale military operation targeting more than 200 infrastructure sites in Iran and over 140 Hezbollah-linked locations in Lebanon, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing regional conflict.

In a post on X, the military said it had “struck 200+ Iranian regime infrastructure targets across Iran, and 140+ Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure throughout Lebanon,” outlining the scale of the coordinated offensive.

According to the IDF, the strikes were aimed at dismantling long-range strike capabilities and defensive networks associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The military said key targets in Iran included a central IRGC facility used for weapons storage, along with air defence systems. These sites were described as critical to Iran’s military operations and its ability to project force.

The military escalation comes amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States, following a fresh ultimatum issued by US President Donald Trump.

Trump warned that Iran would face severe consequences, including potential destruction of key infrastructure, if a peace agreement is not reached within 48 hours. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Iran must either strike a deal or reopen the Strait of Hormuz within the deadline. “Time is running out—48 hours before all hell will rain down on them,” he wrote, reiterating an earlier 10-day warning.

Iran’s central military command has rejected the warning, with General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters dismissing Trump’s remarks as “helpless” and “unbalanced.” The sharp exchange of rhetoric signals a hardening of positions on both sides, narrowing the scope for diplomacy.
