‘AAP’s white lies’: Raghav Chadha junks allegations against him, signs off with a ‘Dhurandhar’ dialogue

‘AAP’s white lies’: Raghav Chadha junks allegations against him, signs off with a ‘Dhurandhar’ dialogue

Disgruntled Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha on Saturday hit back at party colleagues after being removed as the Rajya Sabha deputy leader, dismissing the allegations against him as a “scripted campaign” and accusing fellow leaders of launching a “coordinated attack”.

In a video statement posted on X, Chadha alleged that the responses from a number of AAP leaders to his earlier video criticising the party were similar in tone and appeared to be part of a coordinated attempt to target him.

He said that the three allegations levelled against him by the Aam Aadmi Party leaders are nothing but “white lies”.

On Friday, several AAP leaders alleged that Raghav’s conduct in Parliament was not up to the mark and that he refuses to stage walk-outs along with the Opposition.

They also alleged that the AAP MP didn’t sign the Opposition’s motion to impeach Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Chadha was also accused of raising “soft issues” as he was “afraid of the BJP”.

However, Chadha dismissed the allegations and dared the AAP to prove the charges.

“When the Opposition walks out of Parliament, Raghav Chadha stays there, he doesn’t walk out. This is indeed false. I challenge you to bring one instance or one day when the Opposition decided to walk out and I didn’t support them,” he said in the video.

On not supporting CEC’s impeachment motion, he clarified that the motion only needed 50 signatures out of 105 opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha, adding that “6 or 7 MPs from AAP didn’t sign the motion”.

“Where am I wrong and why is the entire blame on me,” he said.

On not raising serious issues and being afraid of the BJP, the AAP MP listed the issues he raised. “I talked about issues, from GST to income tax, Punjab’s water to Delhi air, the condition of government school and ways to strengthen public health care institutions… menstrual health, unemployment to inflation. I raised all these issues.”

Chadha signed off in Bollywood style, using a famous dialogue from the recent hit ‘Dhurandhar’ – “Ghayal hoon isliye ghatak hoon.”
