Meanwhile, a purported video of the incident has also gone viral on social media. The video shows a man wearing a saffron scarf lobbing a blue-coloured hand grenade outside the BJP office.

After throwing the grenade, he quickly runs towards the other side of the road. He also used expletives after throwing the grenade.

The attacker’s face, however, was not visible in the video.

BJP’s Punjab unit President Sunil Jakhar called the attack on the saffron outfit’s state-level office and other recent incidents an attempt to disrupt the communal harmony of the state.

In a social media post on X, Jakhar said, “First, there have been continuous grenade attacks on police stations in Punjab; then recently, a statue of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was vandalized in Hoshiarpur; and today, the BJP state-level office in Chandigarh was attacked. This series of incidents indicates attempts to disrupt the communal harmony of the state.”

Slamming the AAP-led government in the state, the BJP leader said that the government of the border state of Punjab has failed in preventing these attacks.

“As a result, the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab is now beginning to affect Chandigarh as well,” he stated.

The BJP leader further added that “no matter how much separatist forces try, they will not be able to break the communal unity of Punjab.”
