Delhi Capitals pulled off a stunning six-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants, chasing down 142 with 17 balls to spare at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The chase began on a disastrous note for DC as they slumped to 26/4 inside the first five overs. KL Rahul was dismissed for a golden duck off the very first ball by Mohammed Shami, while Pathum Nissanka and skipper Axar Patel fell cheaply to Prince Yadav, leaving the side in deep trouble.

From 33/4 at the end of six overs, Rizvi and Stubbs stitched together an unbeaten 119-run partnership that completely changed the course of the match. Rizvi led the charge with a composed yet aggressive knock, finishing unbeaten on 70 off 47 balls, including five fours and four sixes.

Stubbs played the perfect supporting role, remaining unbeaten on 39 off 32 deliveries, ensuring there were no further hiccups as DC cruised home comfortably. Rizvi fittingly sealed the chase with a six in the 18th over to cap off a memorable comeback.

Rizvi was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock, which also earned him the Super Striker award along with the most fours and sixes in the match.

With this win, Delhi Capitals begin their IPL 2026 campaign on a strong note, collecting two crucial points.

Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for 141 in 18.4 overs after being put in to bat. An unusual opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram gave LSG a steady start, taking the side to 48/2 at the end of the powerplay.

However, the early momentum was halted by the run-out of captain Rishabh Pant and Markram’s dismissal off Axar Patel. Delhi tightened their grip in the middle overs, with Kuldeep Yadav and Axar applying pressure, reducing LSG to 71/5 in the 10th over after Marsh (35) departed.

Abdul Samad offered some resistance with a fighting 36 off 25 balls, but regular wickets prevented LSG from building any meaningful partnerships.

The DC pace attack wrapped up the innings efficiently, with T. Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi picking up three wickets each. Kuldeep chipped in with two, while Axar remained economical to ensure LSG were restricted to a below-par total.
