“The eternal principles of Bhagwan Mahavira—Ahimsa (non-violence), Anekanta (pluralism), and Aparigraha (non-possessiveness)—provide deep guidance for tackling many of today’s challenges. May this festival encourage a stronger commitment to truth, compassion, harmony, and brotherhood.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoed these sentiments, emphasising the cultural and moral significance of Lord Mahavir’s teachings.

“Lord Mahavir showed humanity the right path by teaching truth, non-violence, peace, love, and compassion—values that are the essence of our millennia-old culture,” she said. “Embracing these thoughts and values strengthens us and helps us navigate the modern world. Heartfelt wishes to everyone on Lord Mahavir Jayanti.”

Mahavir Jayanti, one of the most important festivals in Jainism, marks the birth anniversary of Mahavira. Observed with prayers, processions, and acts of charity, the festival celebrates the core principles of Jain philosophy—non-violence, truth, and compassion, which continue to inspire people around the world.
