India’s campaign at the Asian Boxing Championships continued on a positive note on Day 2, with Priya registering a dominant win, while Jadumani Singh delivered a spirited performance against the top seed.
In the women’s 60kg category, Priya produced a clinical display to secure a 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Kazakhstan’s Rimma Volossenko. The Indian boxer remained in control throughout the bout, showcasing composure, sharp movement, and tactical discipline to comfortably progress to the next round.

She is now set to face China’s Chengyu Yang, the No. 2 seed in the category, in what promises to be a high-quality contest.
In the men’s 55kg category, Jadumani Singh was involved in one of the closest bouts of the day, going down 2-3 in a split decision against Japan’s Rui Yamaguchi. The top seed, Yamaguchi, entered the tournament as a strong favourite, backed by a silver medal at the Astana event and a bronze at the Boxing World Cup Finals.
Despite the challenge, Jadumani matched his opponent punch for punch, pushing the contest to the wire in a tightly fought encounter that underlined his resilience and competitiveness at the highest level.
With a mix of dominant victories and hard-fought contests, the Indian contingent continues to build momentum in the early stages of the tournament.
Earlier on Day 1, India had made an impressive start through Preeti Pawar and Deepak.
Competing in the women’s 54 kg category, Preeti, gold medallist at the World Boxing Cup Finals, secured a commanding 5-0 unanimous win over Kazakhstan’s Elina Bazarova, a former Asian U22 champion (2025).
Meanwhile, in the men’s 70kg category, Deepak delivered a composed performance to edge past Uzbekistan’s Khavasbek Asadullaev with a 3-2 split decision. The Indian boxer, who has previously won silver at the Boxam Elite International 2026 and bronze at the Asian Youth Boxing Championships 2022, showed strong temperament in a closely contested bout.
With steady performances across categories, India’s boxers have made a promising start, with several key bouts lined up as the competition progresses toward the medal rounds.
