Iran’s heavy water production plant at Khondab has been severely damaged and is no longer operational, confirmed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The agency said its assessment is based on satellite images and technical analysis. Iran had earlier reported that the facility was hit in an attack on March 27.
The IAEA clarified that there is no radiation danger from the damage. It said the Khondab plant does not contain any declared nuclear material.

Earlier, Iran had also informed the agency about the strike, and both sides confirmed that no radioactive leak or risk to the public was detected.
The attack comes amid rising tensions in West Asia involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. The conflict has seen multiple strikes on key sites since late February.
The IAEA said it has been tracking developments closely, including fresh attacks reported by Iran on important facilities.
Khuzestan Steel Plant also targeted
Iran also reported a strike on the Khuzestan Steel Production Factory. The plant uses sealed radioactive materials like Cobalt-60 and Cesium-137 for industrial purposes.
Authorities said there was no radiation leak outside the facility, and operations continue as normal.
Military activity near Bushehr Nuclear Plant
Separately, the IAEA has raised concerns about military activity near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. This marks the third such incident reported in the past 10 days.
The agency continues to monitor the situation as tensions remain high in the region.
