The United States Embassy in India on Friday drew attention to remarks by US President Donald Trump, who described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a leader who “gets things done” and said ties between the two countries are set to strengthen further.
The post has come at a sensitive moment, with tensions rising in West Asia, placing the spotlight on how Washington and New Delhi are positioning themselves diplomatically.

Sharing Trump’s remarks on social media, the embassy quoted him as saying the relationship with India would grow stronger going forward, adding that both he and Modi are leaders who deliver results, a quality he suggested is rare.
“Our amazing relationship with India will be even stronger going forward. Prime Minister Modi and I are two people that get things done, something that cannot be said for most,” President Trump said in the post.
Phone call focused on West Asia crisis
The remarks follow a phone conversation between the two leaders earlier this week, where the conflict involving Iran dominated discussions.
After the call, PM Modi reiterated India’s position, stressing the need for de-escalation and an early return to peace. He also highlighted the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure, calling it critical for global trade.
“Received a call from President Trump and had a useful exchange of views on the situation in West Asia. India supports de-escalation and restoration of peace at the earliest. Ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure and accessible is essential for the whole world. We agreed to stay in touch regarding efforts towards peace and stability,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
Both sides agreed to stay in touch and coordinate on efforts aimed at stability in the region, especially as concerns grow over the safety of global shipping routes.
Conflict escalates, markets react
The conversation comes against the backdrop of escalating hostilities since February 28, when strikes by the US and Israel reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran responded with drone and missile attacks targeting US and Israeli-linked sites across the region.
The fallout has been felt beyond the battlefield, with global energy markets reacting sharply to developments, given the region’s importance for oil supply.
Over the years, Trump and PM Modi have shared a high-visibility political partnership, marked by joint appearances, strategic engagement, and consistent public praise. Their cooperation spans sectors such as defence and trade, underlining a relationship that has steadily deepened in recent years.
