Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Thursday condemned the statement made by the Aam Aadmi Party regarding development works in the Rajendra Nagar area, alleging that it was aimed at creating unnecessary controversy.
Kapoor alleged that AAP councillors and workers created a ruckus in Rajendra Nagar on Wednesday night in an attempt to take credit for the development work. During the commotion, one of their workers reportedly slipped, fell, and sustained injuries.

According to the BJP spokesperson, the reality is that in 2024 the then AAP MLA of Rajendra Nagar had a road in Inderpuri area of the Rajendra Nagar constituency dug up to begin certain development works using funds from the Delhi Jal Board. However, neither was the development work carried out nor was the road rebuilt.
In February 2025, Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj and newly elected BJP MLA Umang Bajaj made persistent efforts and finally got the development work completed through DJB officials and a private contractor.
The entire road was constructed using the road-cutting charges deposited by the Jal Board contractor.
However, local councillor Jyoti Gautam, who remained silent for two years, is now trying to take credit for the work as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections approach, Kapoor alleged.
The BJP leader also questioned AAP leaders who addressed the press conference, asking that if the said development work was being carried out through their MLA or councillor funds, why it was not completed in 2024.
