The series received its official renewal in August 2025, and according to reports cited by ‘Radio Times’, filming began a few months after the announcement.

Netflix confirmed the production progress during updates shared through Tudum, the platform’s official fan hub.

While Season 2 is set to arrive on March 10, work on Season 3 has already started, which means Netflix is clearly planning the story well ahead.

One Piece Season 3 release date

Fans who waited between the first two seasons know patience is part of the journey.

The gap between Season 1 and Season 2 stretched to around two and a half years, largely because of the Hollywood labour strikes in 2023.

This time, the wait may not be quite that long.

Because production is already underway, turnaround could be quicker hopefully. Even so, industry estimates suggest Season 3 will likely premiere somewhere between mid-to-late 2027 or possibly early 2028.

So yes, the treasure chest may take a while to reach the shore.

The story will dive into the Alabasta Arc

The direction of Season 3 will follow the original anime storyline, which heavily guides the live-action adaptation.

Season 2 is expected to conclude Drum Island storyline and set the stage for Alabasta arc. It is one of the most important chapters in ‘One Piece’ saga.

If the show follows the anime closely, the new season could feature:

– The Straw Hat Pirates traveling to the Kingdom of Alabasta

– A mission to stop a civil war threatening the kingdom

– A major showdown with the villain Mr. Crocodile

– Continued involvement from the Marines

The Alabasta arc in the anime runs across 39 episodes.

New characters joining the adventure

Season 3 will also introduce some exciting new faces.

Netflix has confirmed that Xolo Maridueña will appear as Portgas D. Ace. His arrival is already being teased as a significant moment for story.

Another new addition is Cole Escola who will portray Bon Clay which is another memorable figure from the Alabasta storyline.

Their roles hint that upcoming season will dive deeper into complex alliances and rivalries of pirate world.

Straw Hat crew returns

Along with new cast members, familiar crew of Straw Hat Pirates will return for next chapter of the adventure.

Confirmed cast members include:

– Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy
– Emily Rudd as Nami
