Ducati has pulled the covers off the second-generation DesertX, and this time, the adventure motorcycle feels more purposeful than ever. Unveiled globally as part of Ducati’s 2026 line-up, the new DesertX comes with a fresh engine, revised frame and a long list of upgrades aimed at riders who love mixing highways with rough trails.
The Italian brand says the new DesertX is built to be lighter, more agile and easier to handle in demanding off-road conditions, while still keeping its touring character intact. At first glance, the rally-inspired design remains, but underneath, the bike has changed significantly.

What’s new under the skin
The biggest update is the new powertrain and chassis combination. Ducati has moved away from the older motor and introduced a new V-twin unit paired with a redesigned structure.
Key highlights include:
- New 890cc V2 engine producing around 110 hp with strong low-end torque
- Reworked aluminium monocoque frame using the engine as a stressed member
- Long-travel adjustable suspension for better performance on broken terrain
- Shorter lower gears for off-road control and a taller sixth gear for highways
- Slimmer fuel tank and revised riding position for improved balance
These changes are aimed at giving riders more confidence when tackling gravel roads, sand trails and mountain routes.
Smarter tech and riding comfort
The second-gen DesertX also gets a comprehensive electronics package with multiple riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control and wheelie control. Ducati has tweaked the ergonomics by repositioning the seat, handlebars and footpegs to make long rides less tiring and standing riding more natural.
The new DesertX will first go on sale in Europe in 2026, with other markets expected to follow later. Though details are not provided, Ducati India did confirm that the bike will be available in the Indian market by the fourth quarter of 2026.
