Around 200 passengers on an IndiGo plane had a harrowing time on Wednesday after the flight’s departure was delayed for over four hours.

The incident occurred at Chennai International Airport, where the IndiGo flight bound for Singapore could not take off due to an above-normal cabin temperature.

Reports said that by the time the temperature was brought under prescribed limits, the pilots’ Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) had exceeded prescribed limits and they were not eligible to fly the plane.

According to prevailing FDTL rules, pilots are barred from undertaking flight duty above permissible limits to bring down the risk of fatigue during late-night and early-morning operations.

In a video that has now gone viral on the internet, angry passengers could be seen shouting at and arguing with the ground staff who prevented them from deboarding the plane.

Many passengers became restless without proper ventilation and food inside the stuck plane. Many of the passengers complained of feeling suffocated.

The flight, which was scheduled to depart for Singapore at 7:20 AM (ETD), finally took off at 11:40 AM (ATD).
