Bollywood’s upcoming love drama just got a legal green signal! Days before release, the title itself became the star of the controversy. But now, the judges have spoken, and the film keeps its name. Yes, we are talking about ‘Yadav Ji ki Love Story’.
The buzz began when a petition was filed before the Supreme Court of India over the film ‘Yadav Ji ki Love Story’. The petitioner claimed the title pushed an offensive stereotype and showed the Yadav community in a negative way.

According to the plea, using the community name in title could hurt its social image and standing. The request was clear: stop the film from releasing with this name.

A bench led by Justice BV Nagarathna examined the issue closely and dismissed the plea. The court said the title does not use any insulting word or adjective against the community. It stressed that simply mentioning a community name, without attaching any negative label, cannot be called defamatory or offensive.
In short, the judges found the concern exaggerated and legally unsustainable.
The bench also compared this matter with its earlier decision related to the film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’. In that case, the word “ghooskhor” directly meant corrupt and clearly added a negative trait to a community.
But here, ‘Yadav Ji ki Love Story’ was seen as a neutral, affectionate phrase that does not assign any bad quality or stereotype. Hence, the situations were not the same.
The court further noted that none of the reasonable restrictions under Article 19(2) of the Constitution applied in this situation. Since the title did not insult or demean the community, there was no legal ground to block it.
Directed by Ankit Bhadana and produced by Sandeep Tomar, the movie stars Pragati Tiwari and Vishal Mohan in the lead roles.
With the legal drama now settled, ‘Yadav Ji Ki Love Story’ is all set for its nationwide theatrical release on Friday, February 27, 2026.
