Northern Army Commander visits Sunderbani Sector after troops foil infiltration bid by terrorists

Lt General Pratik Sharma of the Northern Command on Saturday visited the Sunderbani sector in the Rajouri district following the successful culmination of ‘Operation Jwala’ that foiled an infiltration bid and resulted in the recovery of war-like stores.

The Army Commander commended the troops for their swift and precise action. He also lauded their professionalism, commitment and steadfast resolve towards ensuring a terror-free Jammu & Kashmir.

Alert troops of the Indian Army on Thursday foiled an infiltration attempt by Pakistani terrorists in the Nathua Tibba area of Sunderbani in the Rajouri district along the Line of Control.

After foiling the infiltration attempt by Pakistani terrorists, troops of the White Knight Corps searched the area and recovered one AK-47 Rifle and 2 AK magazines along with ammunition.

A defence spokesman said that the troops observed heavily blood-stained tracks, indicating serious injuries to the terrorists. During a search of the area, three rucksacks, blankets, rations and clothing were also found.

The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army said that based on intelligence inputs and sustained surveillance, suspicious movement of terrorists was detected in the general area of Nathua Tibba along the LoC during the early hours of 19 February. Alert troops of the White Knight Corps responded with swift and calibrated fire, successfully foiling the infiltration attempt.

Operations remain ongoing with heightened vigilance and firm domination of the area.

Meanwhile, the GOC of the White Knight Corps on Friday visited the Baloni sector to assess the counter-infiltration posture and operational preparedness of troops deployed along the LoC.

Later, the GOC, accompanied by the GOC of the Crossed Swords Division, visited the forward areas of the Sunderbani sector to review the prevailing security situation following the successful foiling of the infiltration bid.

The troops also busted a cross-border weapon smuggling module and recovered Chinese and Turkish-made pistols.
