Nature’s own dandruff fighter
Acharya Balkrishna recently took to Facebook to share a simple yet powerful remedy for dandruff. Neem, he says, is a natural antifungal and antiseptic that works wonders against the flaky menace.
Unlike commercial shampoos that may only mask the problem temporarily, neem targets the root cause: fungal growth and scalp irritation.
“Just boil neem leaves in water, make a paste, and apply it to your scalp for 30 minutes,” he explains. “Rinse thoroughly, and you’ll notice dandruff disappearing gradually.”
It’s that simple.
Homemade neem hair masks
For those who want to go a step further, neem can be combined with other natural ingredients to supercharge its dandruff-fighting powers. Here’s how:
Neem Oil Herbal Mask: Blend few drops of homemade neem oil with fresh basil leaves, teaspoon each of bhringraj, shikakai, fenugreek powders. Apply evenly to your scalp. Let it sit for 30 minutes. In just 2-3 weeks, you will notice reduced itching and flakiness.
Neem and Coconut Oil: Heat 3 tablespoons of coconut oil with some dry neem leaves for a minute. Strain mixture and massage it into your scalp for 30 minutes before washing it off with mild shampoo. This not only fights dandruff but also nourishes dry hair.
Neem Yogurt Mask: Mix neem powder or paste with cold yogurt and a tablespoon of aloe vera. This mask locks in moisture, soothes your scalp, and tackles dryness while fighting dandruff.
What makes neem so effective? Its antifungal and antibacterial properties reduce dandruff and also soothe irritation, treat scalp conditions like psoriasis and dermatitis in addition to improving overall hair health.
