Not ego, but strategy

There were recent reports claiming that Toxic might change its release date. However, a source close to the film told Variety India that the actor has no plans to postpone.

“Yash is a very good businessman. If he had felt threatened by ‘Dhurandhar 2,’ he would have considered delaying the film. But he has immense confidence in the content. He is not only thinking about the opening weekend but about a long theatrical run.” the source said.

According to insiders, the decision is based on belief in the film rather than rivalry.

A long wait for fans

Toxic was first announced in December 2023, nearly three years ago. Since then, fans have been waiting to see Yash back on the big screen.

The film’s release date was officially locked in March last year. Backing out now, sources say, would not only disrupt planning but also disappoint fans who have been anticipating the film for years.

Communication gap?

However, there is another layer to the story. Sources suggest that Yash was not informed in advance about Dhurandhar 2 choosing the same Eid window.

“‘Toxic’had already announced its date. If ‘Dhurandhar 2’ was planning to come on the same day, they could have at least given him a courtesy call,” the insider added.

The source further claimed that Yash feels the Hindi film industry lacks the open communication culture that is more common in the southern film industries.

The clash is still on

With both films sticking to March 29, the Eid weekend is officially set for a major showdown. The fight for screens has already begun.

Publicity teams from both sides are actively building buzz, and aggressive box office projections are being circulated in trade circles.

Whether the clash will split collections or push both films to bigger numbers remains to be seen. One thing is certain — Eid 2026 won’t be a quiet one at the movies.
