The CM stressed that strong and empowered local bodies will aid the overall development of Delhi. She described the financial support to MCD, also run by the BJP, as her government’s commitment to decentralised and effective governance. Funds will also be transferred from the Chief Minister’s Development Fund (CMDF).
The CM pointed out that proposals worth approximately Rs 1,330 crore have been prepared during the current financial year for road paving and development works that fall under the purview of MCD. Among these projects are construction, repair and strengthening of nearly 1,000 kilometres of roads. These are expected to help curb dust pollution in the city, especially during the post-Monsoon months of October and November when pollution levels jump.

The BJP government in Delhi has also cleared a long-term project worth approximately Rs 2,300 crores under a 10-year OPEX (Operational Expenditure) model to modernise the city’s sanitation system.
As part of the initiative, 70 additional mechanical road sweeping machines are being used to expand cleaning coverage. Further, 1,000 electric litter pickers are being deployed to make sanitation operations more efficient, environmentally friendly and technologically advanced.
Among other initiatives, the Rekha Gupta government has approved an additional Rs 50 crore for upgrading MCD primary schools, as well as another Rs 50 crore for the repair and upgradation of MCD community buildings.
