The controversy surrounding the Delhi Gymkhana Club is no longer only about one institution in Lutyens’ Delhi.
The station is located close to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and the renaming comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the new name ‘Seva Teerth’ for the building complex housing the PMO.

The Udyog Bhawan Metro Station on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro was on Saturday officially renamed ‘Seva Teerth’ Metro Station, officials said.
The station is located close to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and the renaming comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the new name ‘Seva Teerth’ for the building complex housing the PMO.

On Friday, the Prime Minister announced that the complex, now called ‘Seva Teerth’, accommodates key government offices, including the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat, which were earlier functioning from different locations.

Earlier this month, on February 7, the Delhi Metro’s Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 Metro Station on the Pink Line was also renamed ‘Shree Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar’.
“The Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 Metro Station in East Delhi has been renamed as Shree Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar,” an official said, adding that the decision was taken by the State Names Authority (SNA) Committee. The station falls on the Shiv Vihar–Majlis Park corridor of the Pink Line.
The Delhi Metro currently operates 12 lines covering nearly 395 kilometres and 289 stations across Delhi and the National Capital Region. It facilitates an average of around 65 lakh passenger journeys every day, making it one of the busiest metro networks in the country.
